Wood Repairs in San Bernardino & Upland, CA
We are your wood replacement specialists!
When it comes to wood repairs, Hooke Termite & Pest Services is the company to go to. We have performed all types of wood repairs to homes, multi-unit complexes, commercial buildings, and much more! We love what we do, and we are the best in the business when it comes to replacing termite damaged and dry-rotted wood members.
Wood damage comes in many forms, ranging from a dry-rotted fascia board that has been holding up your rain gutter for decades but is now failing and falling away from your home to a patio post that has been housing a colony of drywood termites for the past decade. The list doesn't stop there. Let's put it this way, if it's made of wood, termites will eat it and without the proper maintenance it will rot. That's why we do what we do. So, you don't have to.
When an inspector from Hooke Termite & Pest Services comes out to your home or business to perform a termite inspection, you can trust that they are also an experienced repair technician or as we like to call, crewman. A minimum of 5 years of wood repairs and replacement is a requirement to be an inspector for Hooke Termite & Services. Even the owner of the company has over 2 decades of wood repair experience and oversees all employee training and required continued education.
There are many different types of termite repair companies. One of the most common types of termite companies are what we at Hooke Termite & Pest Services call the "Hack & Slash" companies. Unfortunately, these are the companies that give a bad name to the termite repair industry. These types of companies like to do things like cutting back a piece of damaged fascia about 2 feet to the nearest rafter tail and scab in whatever scrap lumber that they have left over from what they bought at the local box lumber store. This scrap 2x8 that has been tossed around the back of their truck for the past few weeks. If it doesn't fit, they will make it fit. Just prior to slapping on some caulking and primer in order to hide their poor workmanship. Watch out for these guys, they are everywhere. They love to patch rather than replace. They don't match the milling or grade of the existing material on yours or your client's home. Sure, the repairs may look decent enough to not get a complaint for the first few months. But when the weather sets in, and everything settles, the cheap fillers that they use begin to crack and separate. Causing more damage than prior to their arrival.
I generally like to keep these articles positive, but sometimes it's hard to see the light without knowing what the darkness looks like. At Hooke Termite & Pest Services, we pride ourselves on our skill, workmanship, safety, and overall customer service. Performing wood repairs on all types and caliber of homes for the past 8 years and with an owner that has 25 years of wood repair experience, we have seen it all.
Hooke Termite & Pest Services is what I would like to consider a 'Specialty Company'. We are very experienced and competent in performing the most extensive and intricate wood repairs. With one of our specialties being our ability to rebuild/replace existing wood window sashes and wood doors. Our custom carpentry is second to none. We have performed wood repairs on registered historical landmarks spanning from Monrovia, through to Pasadena California, and all the way to the Pacific Ocean.
Throughout the years, Hooke Termite & Pest Services have built quality relationships with local lumber yards that are able to mill today's available lumber to the specific sizes and surface types to match the existing, damaged wood members on yours or your client's home.
When we prepare for a wood repair job, generally we prefer to pre-order and get the materials to our woodshop days prior to actually performing our wood repairs. This allows us to prime and paint the materials at our wood shop and allow everything to dry thoroughly to expedite the repair portion of the installation once our trained wood repair crewmen arrive at yours or your client's home.
We also offer pretreatment of all unfinished lumber with a termiticide and fungicide in order to add a little more peace of mind to our client's. This pretreatment process involves topically coating all of the new lumber with termiticide and fungicide and allowing the material to thoroughly dry prior to applying primer and paint. Pretreating material will add years of longevity to your patio, fascia boards, balcony framing, etc.
Hooke Termite & Pest Services in most cases is your 'one stop shop' when it comes to wood repairs on your home. We always prime and paint to match (as close as possible) all wood repairs so you don't have to call a painter to finish what we started. One question that realtors hate getting while doing a final walkthrough with their clients prior to closing escrow is "Why didn't they paint?" or "Why are all of the repairs only primed white?" Those are 2 questions that as a realtor you will never be subjected to when you hire Hooke Termite & Pest Services.
Our wood repair policy is to make it look better than it did before we started. We can always ensure this by taking pictures before and after wood repairs are completed. This allows us to reference any existing issues prior to the installation of any new materials and to show future clients the quality of past wood repairs. Nothing gives a new homeowner, existing homeowner, realtor, or property manager the peace of mind like knowing what everything looked like before we began and how great it looks once we have the job completed.
Custom woodwork and carpentry are quickly dying skills in the wood repair industry. A common example is door installation. I have interviewed hundreds of self-proclaimed 'carpenters' in my 25 years of performing this scope of work. It is amazing what some people consider experience. Just because you have done something for years, doesn't mean that you have done it correctly.
With decades of knowledge and quality experience, we are able to eliminate poorly trained carpenters during our thorough vetting processes. One of the first questions that I ask an applicant is "What is the difference between hanging a door and fitting a door?" Their answer to questions like this is one of the barometers that we use to gauge an applicant's current knowledge and skill set. I will never send someone to work in your home or your client's home that I wouldn't allow to work on my own.
In closing, if you are a realtor that is tired of overpriced and underperforming termite companies, or a homeowner that cares about the quality of work performed on your 'castle'. We are the wood repair company for you. Give us a call today to schedule an evaluation!
