Ant infestations can be very frustrating. No matter how many consumer-grade ant traps you purchase at your local hardware store, they never seem to eliminate the entire colony. Using professional, commercial grade products such as non-repellant topical sprays, gel baits, and traps we can exterminate the entire colony with lightning speed. Our methods have been proven to be effective time after time.
Ants do not discriminate as to who they pester and where they will invade. We readily provide ant control to any type of structures and all sizes of home. Whether you live in a 650 square foot condo or operate your business out of a 10,000 square foot industrial building, we are the company for you.
There are lots of different types of ants that are prolific in Southern California. The most common ant that we receive calls about are Argentine ants. Argentine ants are about 1/16 of an inch long on average. These guys are very small, and they will get into anything. Your dog's food and water, your trash, your food, your bathtub and sink. I have even seen them trailing across a baby's basinet. They will usually send out scouts to locate viable food and water. So, when you see a few, you can be certain that there are more. Lot's more, and they'll launch a full-scale invasion at the most inconvenient moment.
Interior treatments for an Argentine ant infestation for a residential property begins with a visual inspection. The visual inspection will allow our trained and experienced technician to locate the source of the Argentine ant infestation as well as what they are trying to get into or have already gotten into. The latter is usually the situation by the time we arrive.
Once we have determined the source and location of the Argentine ant infestation, now it's time to jump into action. The first thing that we do is ask for any domestic pets to be wrangled up and secured into an area where we won't have curious, four legged, furry buddies trying to help. Our regularly scheduled safety training ensures that each experienced pest control technician that we send out holds everyone and every pet's safety as their top priority. If we cannot apply an insecticide in a safe manner as per the manufacturer's label, we won't apply that insecticide at all.
After all of our furry friends have been put away or removed, we will begin the treatment by applying a topical non-repellent professional grade ant spray. We make sure to apply only as much that is needed to take care of your problem and we always abide by the product label and manufacturer's recommendations. We like to think of our methods as using a scalpel instead of a machete. It's not how much product you apply, it's where you apply the product. Baseboards, cracks and crevices, and Argentine ant highways are some of the more common areas that we tend to apply topical nonrepellent sprays.
Two of the most common types of registered, professional insecticides available for use are repellent and nonrepellent products. We prefer to utilize nonrepellent products to eliminate Argentine ant infestations on the interior of buildings for lots of different reasons.
One of the main reasons for utilizing nonrepellent topical sprays for Argentine ant infestations is that once the product is dry and the ants encounter the product, they have no idea that they are essentially signing their colony's death warrant. They will all become unknowingly contaminated with the nonrepellent insecticide and transport it back to where their colony has set up its home base. That could be underneath the home's concrete slab, inside a wall void, in a plumbing trap, behind a kitchen cabinet. No matter where they are hiding, the product will make its way to the rest of the colony, courtesy of their foraging counterparts.
Another proven method that we use to rid a home or business' interior of an Argentine ant infestation is the use of gel baits. Ant gel baits are a highly effective way to handle ants on the interior. Gel baits can be strategically applied in areas that are very difficult to safely apply a liquid topical insecticide. The ants can smell this gel bait a mile away. Think of it like a car full of hungry teenagers catching a whiff of the local In 'N' Out Burger located few blocks up wind from them. They'll be on it like moths to a flame. Gel baits are a quick, easy, and highly effective way to gain control of an out of hand ant problem on the interior.
Sometimes the best way to keep the ants out of the inside of your home or business is to have an effective exterior ant control program in place. Although a regular pest control service around the exterior of your home or business can't guarantee that you'll never need to have some kind of ant control performed on the interior, it does reduce the possibility of needing an interior treatment immensely.
Each one of Hooke Termite & Pest Services valued customers that have a regular exterior pest control service receives applications of the highest quality insecticides to provide not only ant control, but control of lots of other general insect that are commonly found in Southern California. A regular perimeter insecticide application is always recommended by Hooke Termite & Pest Services.
